Guided by the values of inclusion, sustainability and beauty the EU’s New European Bauhaus (NEB) flagship initiative connects the European Green Deal to our daily lives and living spaces. It aims to bridge the worlds of art, culture and education with science and technology to reimagine sustainable living in Europe and beyond.
From principles to practice
EIT Culture & Creativity collaborates strategically with the NEB to further embed its values into the innovation ecosystem and spark lasting systemic change, through initiatives ranging from fashion to the built environment and new narratives for transformation.
Together, these initiatives mark a shift away from linear, growth-driven approaches and towards a more collaborative, regenerative and democratic model of innovation. They show how culture and creativity are not peripheral to innovation; they are its deepest sources for resilience, offering not only solutions, but ways of seeing, sensing and imagining the world differently.

Building a journey map through the NEB
NEB Systemic Narratives
We are working with networks emerging from the NEB Lighthouse pilot projects, along with other demonstrators putting New European Bauhaus principles into practice, to understand how innovation develops and can be scaled across Europe. As part of this work, we are analysing achievements, challenges encountered and the conditions that enabled success, compiling these insights into learning journeys and systemic narratives. These outputs are designed to equip policymakers, practitioners and communities with the knowledge and tools to replicate NEB-inspired solutions through the Horizon Europe Framework Programme and other initiatives, fostering lasting, systemic transformation across Europe.

Acting as a catalyser to enable the network to scale
NEB Academy
The NEB Academy is a European network dedicated to advancing long-term transformation in the built environment. Through modular programmes, peer exchange and strategic partnerships, it aims to empower changemakers to work toward a regenerative future, equipping professionals with the skills to integrate circularity, resilience and cultural relevance into construction, architecture and urban design. A feasibility plan is underway to shape a long-term model for the NEB Academy and strengthen its role in reskilling Europe’s construction workforce for an inclusive and sustainable transformation of the built environment. Building on the existing structure, EIT Culture & Creativity will provide its entrepreneurial expertise and creative methods to ensure the Academy’s self-sustained strategic growth and impact across higher and professional education.
