Next up in our series of regional Open Days: 26 November in Matera!
The EIT Culture & Creativity Regional Hub South will hold its Open Day on 26 November, on the first day of MAGMA Fest 2026, an annual event in Southern Italy for professionals across the cultural and creative sectors.
Co-hosted with Matera Hub – a Core Partner and founder of EIT Culture & Creativity – MAGMA Fest 2026 will unite artists, creatives, cultural professionals and innovators to explore how culture can drive social and territorial change.
This year’s MAGMA Fest has added significance: Matera is serving as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026, alongside Tetouan, Morocco.
Against this backdrop, the Open Day is an opportunity to strengthen dialogue between local innovation and the broader European ecosystem for the cultural and creative sectors and industries (CCSI). Discussions will explore how EIT Culture & Creativity can support the transition towards more sustainable, resilient and competitive models.
Attendees can expect a dynamic space for networking and co-creation. The Open Day will include presentations on funding opportunities, keynote speeches, workshops and matchmaking sessions, where local and international stakeholders can discuss the strategic role of culture and creativity in the contemporary Mediterranean.
Is there a Mediterranean way of doing business?
Sessions will explore the CCSI's role in economic and social development, debating how innovation and transnational, cross-sectoral cooperation can generate value for Mediterranean territories and communities. Indeed, at the heart of the programme lies a key question: is there a Mediterranean way of doing business?
Beyond their economic weight in the region, the CCSI are also a lever for social innovation. The event will explore new forms of cooperation and consider how actors in the CCSI ecosystem can build a shared vision to navigate major transformations taking place in European society - through new skills, products and services.
