ABOUT REGIONAL INNOVATION SCHEME (RIS)
The EIT launched the Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) in 2014 as its main tool for reducing Europe’s regional innovation disparities. It helps innovators from eligible countries and territories gain place-based access to EIT activities, foster connections among regional innovation actors, and provides bespoke programmes to support moderate and emerging innovator countries, as well as the EU’s Outermost Regions, in building their innovation capacity.
EIT RIS activities are tailored to meet the diverse innovation needs of eligible countries based on their scores on the European Innovation Scoreboard.
RIS plays a central role within EIT Culture & Creativity, building the capacity of local actors - including businesses, start-ups, incubators, research institutions and educational bodies - and connects them with scaling opportunities across Europe. This approach helps close innovation gaps and unlock the full potential of all regions.
EIT Culture & Creativity already has strong representation from RIS regions, with more than 40% of partners being based there.
ABOUT REGIONAL INNOVATION & INTERNATIONALISATION CROSS-KIC PROJECT
The Cross-KIC Regional Innovation and Internationalisation (RI&I) Cluster unites two flagship initiatives, launched in 2018: Strategic Regional Innovations (SRI) and Global Outreach (GO), into one coherent framework. This integration tackles Europe’s dual innovation gap: disparities between leading and emerging EU regions, and Europe’s weaker position compared to global innovation hubs.
Aligned with the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda 2021–2027, EU Cohesion Policy, and the Global Gateway, the RI&I Cluster strengthens the EIT’s contribution to the European Green Deal, Digital Europe, and science diplomacy. It enhances efficiency by reducing duplication, pooling resources across EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (EIT KICs), and providing a single-entry point for regions and global partners.
The Cluster’s overall goal is to:

Boost Europe’s innovation capacity, global competitiveness, and strategic autonomy. It aims to: Bridge regional divides through 27 Community Hubs in RIS-eligible and outermost regions, and pilot the Regional Innovation Booster in four Member States by 2028;

foster cross-KIC collaboration with joint calls, shared platforms, and integrated programmes. Strengthen EIT’s global presence through hubs in Israel and the UK, new priority markets (e.g., India), and support to the Choose Europe initiative;

develop talent and capacity via entrepreneurship training, deep tech and leadership programmes, and gender mainstreaming;
-
support scaling and market access by linking start-ups with finance, ecosystems, and global value chains. Advance EU policy objectives by acting as an operational arm for innovation policy, mainstreaming SDGs, climate resilience, and inclusiveness.
The Cluster applies the Knowledge Triangle Integration “Plus” model, draws on lessons from 2023–2025, and uses a scalable, modular approach adaptable to diverse regions. Unlike individual EIT KIC activities, it ensures geographic inclusiveness, ecosystem engagement, and a fair innovation activities distribution across Europe.
EIT Community officer (Part-Time, all genders)
1 PART-TIME POSITION AT EIT CULTURE & CREATIVITY (24 hours per week, 2-year contract)

ABOUT THE POSITION
EIT Culture & Creativity is looking for an EIT Community Officer.
The role encompasses three primary operational domains aimed at fostering collaboration, disseminating information, and enhancing the visibility of the EIT Community.
Responsibilities include orchestrating various EIT Community awareness-raising events, facilitating participation in national events, promoting EIT KICs projects and calls, managing information dissemination through multiple channels, and overseeing the upkeep of the EIT Community Hub website.
Additionally, the Officer is tasked with identifying opportunities for joint projects among EIT KICs, supporting the implementation of joint activities aligned with regional priorities, and serving as a central contact point for local stakeholders and KTI local actors. Furthermore, the Officer is entrusted with maintaining records of EIT Community Hub members, nurturing relationships with them, CLCs and other KIC offices, establishing physical spaces for stakeholder engagement, and streamlining administrative processes to optimize operational efficiency.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in ecosystem management and European project management with multiple partnership. This person should strive to generate positive environmental and social impact in line with EIT mission and foster a shared understanding of goals and commitments across teams with different styles and expectations.

ABOUT THE TASK & MISSION
Your key responsibilities include:
Leading role:
-
Serve as a centralized contact gateway for local stakeholders to the EIT Community and refer them to relevant EIT KIC contacts.

Deliver country-specific actions, deliverables, KPI’s included in the country Activity Plan.
-
Collaborate with all EIT KICs, EIT Community Officers and EIT in supporting to activate the innovation ecosystem.
-
Suggest and support the implementation of possible joint activities among EIT KICs aligned with relevant RIS3 priorities.
-
Scout for and recommend opportunities to implement joint projects financed through EU/national/regional funds.
-
Actively scout for new potential partners and start-ups which can join the KICs’ programmes, specifically for KICs not present in the country.

Support updating of local Country-specific roadmaps and assist with their implementation as required.

Actively scout for the opportunities to fundraise for the ECO activities and operation.
Regarding Events and Dissemination:

Lead the organization of shared EIT Community awareness-raising events and maintain awareness of dissemination and scouting events organized by EIT Community members.

Design appropriate methods and tools for information sharing and coordination and actively collect and disseminate information about KICs’ funding opportunities, events, and initiatives organised or promoted by the KICs through applicable channels.

Support the participation of EIT Community representatives in relevant national events and coordinate the collection and dissemination of funding opportunities and key events from sources other than those from the KICs, in collaboration with the local CLC colleagues.

Manage and update the EIT Community RIS Hub website https://eit-ris.eu, both in English and in the national language with information on EIT Community activities and opportunities, including dedicated sections for specific stakeholders.
Supporting role:

Provide additional support to the EIT and KICs in navigating the local innovation landscape (EIT ecosystem mapping) and securing co-funding opportunities.

Support a coordinated approach among EIT KICs' RIS Hubs towards national authorities.

Develop a thorough understanding of the EIT model and stay updated with KIC activities by establishing good working relationships with EIT Community RIS Hub members and other KIC offices.

University degree in management, business administration, entrepreneurship, biosciences, engineering, political or social science, environmental studies, sustainability, arts, design or other innovation related fields.

Fluency in Italian and English (minimum C1 level).

Excellent communication skills to interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
Work experience

Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience, particularly in ecosystem management, innovation, entrepreneurship and/or European affairs as project manager or key expert.

At least 3 years of experience working for an EU-financed project management project with multiple partnership.

Managerial skills to follow up on KPIs, deliverables and financial reporting.

Solid public speaking and presentation skills.

LOCATION
This position is primarily remote with periodic in-person engagements and some business travel within Europe.
