Introduction
The EIT Culture & Creativity is designated as the 9th Knowledge and Innovation Community for the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries, initiated and funded in its startup phase by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Till March 2024 the EIT Culture & Creativity must appoint its permanent Supervisory Board consisting of at least 7 members. To do so, firstly a Selection Committee for the Supervisory Board must be elected by the General Assembly.
While a call for the Supervisory Board in autumn 2023 has gathered applications for a future Supervisory Board, a Selection Committee needs to be created through an Extraordinary General Assembly, as the term of current Supervisory Board is coming to end.
The General Assembly of the EIT CCSI e.V. is tasked to elect four persons to complete a new Selection Committee of five persons. The Selection Committee consists of four members and one chairperson. The Chairperson of the Selection Committee is Niccolo Caderni as the Chair of the Supervisory Board. Thus this public and open call is launched for four member of the Selection Committee.
Its main task is to select between February 9th and February 16th from the applicants in 2023 a list of 6 candidates for the Supervisory Board, which the Selection Committee proposes to a General Assembly in March for approval.
The workload of the Selection Committee is described below in detail. The Selection Committee will be supported by a secretariat, provided by the EIT Culture & Creativity Team, and will be briefed upon its start by the Coordinator Fraunhofer.
Call for Four Members of the Selection Committee
We hereby invite experienced personalities with the appropriate skills, experience and capacity in this time frame to apply to be a member of Selection Committee for the Supervisory Board of the EIT Culture & Creativity by filling out the online application form accessible by this link
by 1 February 2024, 12.00 noon CET.
These applicants are then candidates to the Selection Committee for the Supervisory Board and will present their candidacy in a 2 minute pitch to an Online Extraordinary General Assembly on 8 February.
The Online Extraordinary General Assembly decides in a secret voting with simple majority about up to 4 members of the Selection Committee for the Supervisory Board.
The Chairperson of the Selection Committee is Niccolo Caderni, the Chair of the Supervisory Board.
As the majority of the members of the Selection Committee must be independent external persons (see definition below), this call looks for at least two independent external persons and a maximum of two persons affiliated with members of the EIT Culture & Creativity.
Application process and deadlines

Applications are only eligible if this questionnaire has been completed fully and send by February 1st 2024, 12.00 noon CET.
Only applicants who have filled in an eligible application are allowed to candidate for the Selection Committee for the Supervisory Board of the EIT Culture & Creativity and can present themselves with a 2 minute pitch to the Online Extraordinary General Assembly on 8 February.
By sending this application, the applicant confirms to be present on 8 February from 09.00 to 12.00 h CET and agrees to present her- or himself to the Online Extraordinary General Assembly in a 2 minute pitch.
The candidate hereby declares that EIT Culture & Creativity can share and forward the data and personal information provided below to the members of the EIT CCSI e.V. and the EIT Culture & Creativity Team in order to process it for the Online Extraordinary General Assembly.

Composition and Requirement of the Selection Committee
The Selection Committee shall be composed in its majority by independent external persons of the EIT CCSI e.V. (see § 16.3. of the Articles of Association; § 7.2. of the By-Laws).
The Supervisor Board Selection Committee shall consist of five (5) members to be nominated by the Supervisory Board from among its members. At least (3) of the members of the Supervisor Board Selection Committee shall be “independent external persons” “as specified in Clause 16.2 of the AoA.
An “external independent persons” shall mean in this context an individual who, while serving as member of the Selection Committee and during the two (2) years preceding the appointment to the Selection Committee, is not or has not been (i) a member of the Association, (ii) a director, officer, employee, agent, consultant or (direct or indirect) shareholder, partner or member of any member of the Association or an affiliate of a member, (iii) a person with a direct or indirect financial interest in any contract with any member of the Association or an affiliate of a member, or (iv) a direct relative (spouse, life partner, parent, sibling or lineal descendant) of any person referred to in clauses (i) to (iii). The remaining members of the Selection Committee may be members of the Association or affiliated to members.
Conflict of interest
Applicants to the Selection Committee may also apply if they have applied for membership of the Supervisory Board. The members of the Selection Board are bound to observe the EIT CCSI e.V´s best interests in accordance with the EIT good governance principles as set out in the Partnership Agreement (Please find the Partnership Agreement here) In all their decisions, they must neither pursue personal interests nor exploit for themselves opportunities to which the EIT CCSI e.V is entitled Each member of the Selection Committee shall inform the Chairperson of the Executive Board of any conflicts of interest without undue delay. Material conflicts of interest involving a member of the Selection Committee that are not merely temporary shall result in the termination of that member’s Selection Committee mandate. Each Selection Committee member shall disclose conflicts of interest to the chairperson of the Supervisory Board without undue delay and shall inform the other members of the Selection Committee.Responsibilities of the Selection Committee
According to the By-Laws (§ 7.2.3) the Selection Committee is tasked to review the existing some 40 applications to the public call for the Supervisory Board of the EIT Culture & Creativity published in autumn 2023 and shall have the following further responsibilities:
(a) preparation of profiles of skills and expertise for the candidate(s) of the Supervisory Board based on the criteria set out in the By-Laws
(b) determination of the number of Supervisory Board members to be proposed to the General Assembly for election in accordance with Clause 16.1 of the AoA, provided that the General Assembly may reject any proposal that exceeds the minimum number of six (6) Supervisory Board members;
(c) drawing up a plan for the succession of the members of the Supervisory Board, taking into account the concept of ensuring a mix of continuity and renewal of perspectives as specified in Clause 16.4 of the AoA;
(d) if needed, initiating a further public, open and transparent call for candidates that meets the mandatory requirements of the EIT for such calls;
(e) selection of suitable and qualified candidates and
(f) their proposal for voting to the Online Extraordinary General Assembly in March 2024.
Tasks & Timeline
The Selection Committee is tasked to form a shortlist of at least 14 candidates and to do online in-person interviews with these candidates between February 9th to 16th.
Members of the Selection Committee will be expected to make themselves available on short notice February 9th to 16th to decide on the shortlist of interviewees and thereafter to perform the in-person interviews with these candidates till February 16th.
Members of the Selection Committee are expected to form a final list of 6 candidates by February 16th to be presented for final approval to the Online General Assembly in March 204.
Workload & secretary support
The applicant confirms the willingness and capacity to contribute an expected four working days to perform the above responsibilities in kind. From the four working days 2,5 working days are foreseen for maximum of 14 estimated interviews.
EIT Culture & Creativity designates a team member as secretary to the Selection Committee, being an operative support to the Selection Committee in setting up and minuting interviews, designing interview questions, preparing presentations etc.
This secretary to the Selection Committee is instructed by and reports to the Chairperson and keeps strict confidentiality about the selection process towards the Executive Board of the EIT CCSI e.V, the EIT Culture & Creativity Management and the Coordinator Fraunhofer.
